myIPOD

Day 1
Final design

Day 2

In this project, I had to create an iPod of my choice in Adobe Illustrator CS3 by using the 3D effects: Extrude and Bevel, Revolve and Rotate. Then I had to add my own skin design, have 3 different angles of the iPod and a reflection on the surface. My final product is an iPod nano 4G. I chose red for its base color and for my skin design, I have black paint splattered on it. I used "Shape" by using the Ellipse tool to create the body, the buttons and the screen. I also used "Line" by using the pen tool to create the skin design(paint splatter). I used "Gradient" by utilizing the 3D effect Extrude & Bevel to create the lighting which makes the iPod have that gradient look. I also used "Repetition" by duplicating the triangles and rectangles to create my buttons. My final design somewhat represent my sketch because it is incomplete. I didn't do the surface reflection but I did get the shape that I wanted  to make it look like an iPod nano 4G. First, it was confusing because I did not know how to make that iPod nano 4G oval body shape using the Extrude & Bevel. I always end up with a rectangular prism shape but I finally got it. Second, I could not map my screen and the buttons on the iPod without making it look weird. So I had to improvise and put them separately on a different layer on top of the iPod's body. Third, I ran out of time basically because I spent most of my time experimenting the 3D effects tools. Overall, this project was quite challenging. Curse you Missah Young!

Day 3

Day 2
Day 1
Final Design

This project is part 2 of myLamp project. I had to make my own realistic room and blend the lamp that I've made using only Adobe illustrator CS3 and by utilizing the 3D effects. My final product has purple side walls and silver wall in the middle, a flat screen HDTV on the middle wall, surround sound stereos, purple arm chairs, photos of my previous projects on the side walls, a window with the moon and stars outside and table with a purple remote on top. I used "Shape" by creating squares, rectangles and ovals/circles. I used "Texture" by applying the texture effect on the floor to make it look like a carpet. I also used "Value" by changing the tone of the color purple. I used "Gradation" by simply applying gradients multiple times on the wall, tv, chairs and stereos to make the project realistic. My final design somewhat represent my sketch because I made a few changes. I deleted the piano and added pictures on the walls.

myLamp

Day 1
Day 2 Final Design

In this assignment, I had to make my own original 3D Lamp in adobe illustrator by using the pen tool to create the outline and by utilizing the 3D revolve effect. My final product has a wedding cake shape as the base, a gold stem in the middle that looks like an hourglass and a purple curvy shade. I used "Line" by using the pen tool to create the outline of my lamp. I used "Gradation" by utilizing the 3D revolve effect to make the lighting effect on my lamp. I also used "Repetition" by duplicating the swirls. My final design somewhat represent my sketch because I was going for the basic type of lamp with the shade but tweaked some parts like the shade.

After class critique
Day 5 Final

In this assignment, I had to pick an emotion randomly and then depict it as simple as possible. I was expected to produce an icon that represents the emotion that I chose which is "optimism". My final product is based on the things that comes to mind when I think of the word Optimism. It consist of a rising sun, an A+ paper, flowers, a gift, and a graduation cap. I used " Shape" to create the circle for my sun and squares for the gift. I used "Repetition" by duplicating the flowers and the rays of the sun. My final design somewhat represent my sketch because I added more objects.

OPTIMISM - a disposition or tendency to look on the more favorable side of events or conditions and to expect the most favorable outcome. In other words, "Looking on the bright side of things".

Still Photo

Day 3
Day 1
Day 2
Final Design

In this assignment, I had to make a realistic object in Adobe illustrator CS3 and take a picture of a place anywhere in school to use as my background. Since I'm a big fan of Horror, My final product is a Saw doll on a tricycle from the movie "Saw" and as for my background, I took a picture of the bottom of the first stairwell from the entrance. I used "Line" by using the pen tool to create/trace my object. I also used "Value" by changing the lightness or darkness of a color. I used "Gradation" by filling in my object with gradients. My final design accurately represent my sketch because I used the pen tool to make the outlines of my final design the same with my sketch.

Color Wheel

Mr. Young is gay for this project...

This assignment was one of those "one day to finish a boring type project". Basically, I had to create a Color Wheel by using the Live Trace, Live Paint, Ellipse, Polygon, Line Segment and Rotate Tool in Adobe Illustrator.  My final product looks pretty much like a color wheel minus the unevenness of the triangles. I used "Line" by using the pen tool to create the lines that separates each color. I also used "Shape" to Create the Circles, inner and outer circle. I used "Balance(Symmetrical)" by dividing the circle into 12 square-ish space. We didn't have to sketch for this project.

My Logo

Day 1

Day 2
Day 3

In this assignment, I had to create a black & white logo in adobe illustrator to represent me and so we could use it as a water mark for our future projects. I was expected to produce a logo by using the pen tool to trace our sketch. My final product, I have the Philippine Sun as the dominant object and inside the Sun I have a guy that's dancing with a brush in his right hand and my name. I used the Element "Line" by using the pen tool to create the outline of the guy inside the sun. I used "Repetition" by duplicating the rays of the sun. My final Product accurately represent my sketch because I had placed my sketch in illustrator and traced it.

 My Logo:
The Philippine Sun represents that I'm Filipino. The guy inside the sun represents my interest in Dance and Art. The guy has on a dress hat because I like to wear them occasionally. He's wearing something semi-formal because I like to wear semi formal. My font is Brush Script Std Medium because my hand-writing is similar to this font and the fact that he's holding a brush.

Typo Scene

TypoScene Final
Day 2

In this Assignment, we had to continue with the typography by adding a scene to our previous project the "Typo Object". I was expected to produce a type scene around my typo object by using the pen tool and envelope distort. I was also expected to add colors to the letters. My final product is unfinished. I used The element "Line" by utilizing the pen tool to create my outline of my desired shape. I aslo used the element " Value" by changing the opacity of the color. I used the Principle "Repetition" by duplicating the letters to fill in the shape that i created with the pen tool and by envelope distorting it. My final design somewhat represent my sketch. It's just unfinished. Overall, I really had a hard time on this project because most of the time, I just couldn't get the result that I want with the envelope distort. I hate this project. I hate you Mr. Young...

Art Show Possibilities

Day 2

Day 3

Day 4
Day 5 Final

In this project, I had to create an artwork to submit for an art show. We were allowed to use both photoshop and illustrator CS3. I was expected to produce a well designed, eye-catching art to submit to an art show. I was also expected to produce something original. We were allowed to use any tools on both  photoshop and illustrator. My final product is a mirrored self illustration of me. One looking to the right on the left side of the picture and one looking to the left on the right side of the picture. And for my background, I used a picture of my school building with the "welcome clippers" banner and with also a sun shining to represent daytime on the left side . On the other side, I used a moon and stars to represent nighttime. I used the smudge tool as a boundary in the middle. I dressed up my self illustration that's looking to the left as an assassin/ninja and added different eyes that I found online. I used four elements of art: Line, Shape, Colour, and Value. I used the element "Line" by utilizing the pen tool in Adobe illustrator CS3. I used "Shape" by using the ellipse tool to draw the eyes. I used "Colour" by applying colors to my self illustration. And finally, I used "Value" by changing the opacity of the color of my skin tones. I used two principles of design: Gradation and Contrast. I used "Gradation" on my self illustration. You can see my skin tone gradually changes from a darker color to a lighter color. I used "Contrast" by using the opposite colors. For example, I used White and black as my background color. I didn't have any sketch for this project. It just came to my mind. NINJAS RULE!

Zombified

Original
Day 1
Day 2

Day 3 Final

Extra Day
 Here's the story....
Scientists experimented on a deceased vampire. They injected the body with all kinds of sh*t right? and then one day. I guess it came back to life and ate the scientists. The End.
Pros: Super fast, Super Strength and all that other good stuff.

Cons: Doesn't have a brain like a zombie.

In this assignment, I had to take a picture of myself and transform that picture into a zombie by using photoshop CS3. I was expected to produce a scary zombie picture of myself by taking parts of images online and overlaying them on top of my picture and by messing with the layer styles. My final product is a Zombie/Vampire. I look really pale and blue-ish. I have black/gray make-up surrounding the eyes. My eyes are light blue and it's bleeding. My mouth is open with blood around it and my teeth are sharp. I added a picture of my hand and made my nails sharp by utilizing the smudge tool. As for my background, I used a picture of an old version hospital chair/bed. I used the Element "Value" by changing the tone of a color like my skin. I used "Gradation" by utilizing the soft edge brush tool and paint parts of the picture with black  for the shadows so it won't appear with solid edges. We didn't have a sketch for this project. Overall, I really had fun doing this project. I Love Horror!

Self Reflection: Typo Object

In this assignment, we had to create an object of our choice by using the pen tool and envelope distort. I was expected to produce a complete typo object of my own by just using the pen tool to trace my sketch and convert the text into an outline and envelope distort it. My final product is incomplete because I had to re-sketched my chucky on our 2nd day of day 5. I don't know what else there is to say about an incomplete typo object. I used three elements of arts: Line, Size, and Value. I used "Line" by utilizing the pen tool to create a line. I used "Size" by simply resizing some text from big to small. I used "Value" by messing with the opacity of the text. I used the principle "Repetition" by duplicating the text to fill the inside of my outlines. My final design accurately represent my sketch but then it don't because it's incomplete.

TypeFace Art

In this assignment, we had to create an object of our choice in Adobe illustrator CS3 by only using the letters in that object/animal to create it. For example, If I wanted to produce a chair, I could only use the letters C, H, A, I, R to create it. We were only allowed to use one font but we were allowed to duplicate, rotate and resize the letters. We were not allowed to stretch or transform any letters. I was expected to produce a 8.5x11 typeface art and by only using the letters to create an image of my object or animal. My final product is a Gorilla screaming with dark shaded eyes. I couldn't decide whether I should fill the whole gorilla with dark gray to resemble the hair or leave spots blank and fill only a portion. I ended up not filling it in due to the amount of time left. I used the element "Size" through out my project. Resizing the letters from big to small. I also utilized the element "Color" and "Value". I used color by changing the color of the letters and I used Value by changing the tone of a color. I used the principle "Repetition" by simply duplicating the letters. My final design accurately represents my sketch because I scanned my sketch, placed it in Adobe illustrator and just filled it in with letters. =)
